The Severe and Persistent Mental Illness "Progress Notes Planner" is a essential additional to my library. The book is exactly what it claims to be. If one is billing Insurance, including Medi-Cal, this is a needed addition. My book came to me in excellent condition and very, very timely in delivery. Fast and exactly what I wanted.
By Brain Dead
This is a very helpful text for mental health practitioners. I use it regularly in practice. It is vital, along with the companion Treatment Planner, for surviving in a managed care environment that seeks to deeply limit or, much preferrably for insurance companies, eliminate completely, the provision of mental health care for the populace through a strategy of burdening the provider to the point of withdrawl from practice. No provider, no service's provided. Very simple equation.

Having used the first edition and reviewed the second, there is substantial similarity. For those new practitioners just starting out, with limited financial resources, enormous student debt, and desperately trying to build a practice (or please your first agency employer), while limiting start up and ongoing overhead costs, given the substantial costs of professional books, a used first edition is completely workable for your new practice or first or second agency employment position.
